Hi ~

After a couple of years of preparation (I wouldnt want to move too fast, you understand), Ive finally just published the first edition of my newly redesigned e-zine The Heart of the Matter. If youd like to take a look at it, see:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheHeartoftheMatter/message/20

Actually, the truth is that a lot of things were on hold until I got to Santa Fe. Now I feel like Ive walked through a doorway. Or maybe like Ive opened a faucet. Thats probably a better metaphor.

Ive been very busy the past few days getting things rolling. Oh boy.

Namaste,
Michael

THIS IS MY LIFE

Hi again ~

This is for those of you who want more frequent updates about my health, wealth, and teeth. Im accepting that some of you really do want to know more often how Im doing.

Ill start with the overview and then add some commentary.

HEALTH: Im trying to think of something bright and cheery to say, and the truth is that all I want to do is curse.

The good news is that Im not having the same problems I was before and that I havent had to go back to the ER. However, I have my second bad cold in the past couple of months, and its been interfering with what I need to do to get my life rolling here. I suspect that my immune system got so screwed up that Im just not as able to fend off whatevers in the environment. I wasnt back to full strength or endurance yet before the cold. Now Im feeling weaker and sleeping more again. I choose to see it as a 2 steps forward and one step backward phenomenon.

DENTAL: Not much change with this. I suspect that the Tea Tree Oil mouthwash and toothpaste that Ive been using have helped keep the infection from flaring up again. But I still need to get a crown on it before I lose the tooth. A friend whos in a medical-related field said that she thinks the tooth infection may be related to my other problems, and she said that not knowing that I believe it. I dont feel quite so odd now.

MONEY: Im at the point of crisis again. Im out of one of my medications and almost out of the other and one of the essential supplements that Im supposed to be taking, and I dont have money to buy more. I guess I get to find out if theyre really necessary. Thats just the tip of the iceberg. I could lose everything if I dont get some money coming in immediately.

I guess theres something important for me to learn about this.

And now for the ADDITIONAL COMMENTARY:

I really appreciate all the suggestions that people have been offering.

Several herbologists have told me about herbs to use. Ive gone on and found more information on web sites. Im eager to go to Robert, the Doctor of Oriental Medicine here in Santa Fe, but its on hold until I have the money. I think he could help me heal whatever the imbalance is in my system thats coming out with all the symptoms.

I just happened to see a report one day on TV about aspirin and ibuprofen and the prostate. They said that research shows that men who take either of them daily have significantly fewer prostate problems (including cancer) than those who dont. (The same is true of heart problems, by the way, for anyone, like me, who has a history of that in their family.) They said that the down side is that taking aspirin or ibuprofen increases the chances of ulcers (I also had those in my family) and bleeding problems (I think it was). They concluded, though, that the benefits outweigh the risks, especially for men with prostate issues. So, Ive started taking one ibuprofen every day. They say that they think the benefit relates to reducing inflammation.

One friend suggested that I spend some time in nature because the magic of her medicine is immense. That resonated with me. I know of a few great places Id like to go (and what stops me is money for gas are you noticing a theme here?).

Wow. Wow. I just got something really powerfully. I know where I need to go. In fact, I know 2 places I need to go, both of which are healing places. One (not the wow one) is El Santaurio de Chimay (accent on the last syllable, trust me). Its known as the Lourdes of the West and has a reputation for many healings. I still have a little container with some of the dirt (thats what they say has the healing properties) from when I was there in 1997. It feels like I need a shot of being in the presence of the healing vibes (and all those crutches and other signs of healing hanging on the wall). It shouldnt be crowded this time of year, and I should be able to do some meditating there.

Besides, theres an amazing tortilla stand at the corner of the parking lot. And you all know the healing power of tortillas, dont you?

The one that brought the wow is a particular kiva at Chaco Canyon. Some of you who were reading 4 years ago when I went there may remember what happened. As I was walking up to the kiva, I had one of the most profound past life memories Ive ever had (and Im getting chills recalling it, which is one of my signs of spiritual certainty). I recalled being an Anasazi shaman in the early 1000s and performing healing ceremonies there. (Im getting another of my spiritual certainty signs.) Thats one of quite a few lives when Ive been some kind of priest. Oh, in case you dont know, kivas were spiritual and healing places, something like the Anasazis churches (if that isnt obvious from what Ive said). I need to go back to that kiva and lie down in it. Theres healing of some kind for me there.

And you know what? This is the second call Ive gotten to go there in the past 2 days. Synchronistically, a photo of the kiva Im talking about showed up on my screen yesterday as one of my screen saver pics. I noticed, but didnt pay enough attention.

Middle America is thinking that Im a nut case right now and wondering why I dont just go get a biopsy.

Im laughing to myself. I remember that whenever I would talk about a place, my mother would go get a map and look to see where it is. Consequently, I learned to give some idea of where things were to help her find them. So, for any of you who might be going for the map, Chaco Canyon is in the northwest corner of NM, south and just a little east of Farmington. Yes, youre right it isnt on any major road. In fact, part of the road to it is dirt with ruts. Well, the road to healing isnt always a 4-lane highway.

By the way, does anyone want to see the whole prostate health and healing plan that Ive put together thats based on a lot of research and everything Ive learned about health throughout my life? If so, let me know. If you know a man who wants to heal or wants to avoid problems, it will make a difference (providing he uses it and doesnt just read it, that is).

Theres more, but it feels like time to stop, even though I havent talked much about what Im doing to bring in money or a friends great suggestion about me and money. Something for you to look forward to in the next letter, I guess.

Keep praying for me, if you feel moved to that, and keep sending Reiki or whatever. Thanks for what youve already done and for what you will do on my behalf.

Namaste,
Michael
